New, Fashionable Spanish Dining on 8 Observatory Road

If you are looking for Happy Hour in Tsim Sha Tsui, possibly this is the place!

I was wandering in Kowloon and the Playa de Papagayo's close to shopping mall K11 really caught my attention. I am liking their blue Mediterranean exterior and thought maybe it would be a good idea to have a drink there after work, pretend I am chilling on the beach. ^_^

And...BOOM! They opened another one on 8 Observatory Road which is only 5 mins walk from our office and I am excited to try!

The location is quite easy to find as is very close to the famous hidden bar street Knutsford Terrace. It is only 10 mins walk from TST station/Hung Hom Station.

For some people who do not like packed environment, Papagayo is satisfactory as the 8 Observatory Road has not much traffic and very peaceful during the day and night.

We arrived at 18:30 on a Tuesday and there weren't many people at first. I thought maybe this restaurant is new, and still waiting for awareness. In fact, there were more people later on than I expected.

HH at Papagayo starts at 12noon-9pm everyday. In September they have a weekend promotion of 30% off of all A la carte main dishes which I think it's a good bargain for weekend delights.

The atmosphere in Papagayo is great and not too noisy. Everything in the restaurant is fashionable and the food looks really gorgeous. I am glad we had such a delicious evening!

Let's get started with a little bit of drinking...Mine is a sweet, fruity red, recommend by the manager. Tanning is smooth, very well balanced, taste goes perfectly with red meat and seafood later on.

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Their menu is just too attractive and we have no idea where to start with, so they recommended us a few signature dishes , make sure we don't miss any good food.

And Mango Jack for my alcoholic free friend. Tastes more like orange juice than mango, but still especially refreshing in summer.

Black Truffle and Chicken Terrine Crispy Rolls

Have to eat this up real fast as the blended chicken and mushroom in center will turn the rolls moisture soft.

This dish is fresh, not greasy at all, very good as an appetizer.

Both the end has entirely dipped enough of black truffle and matched well with the chicken.

Shrimps in Garlic and Olive Oil

Garlic shrimps is always my favorite, no exception in Papagayo! Although the dish is slightly enough to for two people if you crave more.

It's not just shrimp and garlic but you can really taste the Mediterranean flavor with grilled Spanish olives and red pepper.

However chef may have to bear in mind about the saltiness as this one I tried is a bit over.

And more to go...!

Here comes the Pan-seared Scallops with Herbs and Green Bean Puree. Definitely maximize the evening with colorful plating. Those are the mustard foam on top, very light in mouth with slightly spiciness.

Scallops are average sized and properly cooked, can taste the original of  the sweetness and the green bean puree enhances a bit more.

Beef Tenderloin 'Cafe de Paris'

Another visual appealing dish pairing with red and yellow pepper, greeny long bean, creamy soft smashed potatoes

We ordered medium as is more enjoyable to feel the meat sauce. Papagayo made it right and it's super juicy with smooth texture. Quite flavorful even only sprayed with simple sea salt and pepper.

Last but not least. Home Made Tagliatelle with Razor Clams and Light Basil Sauce.

It's their homemade pasta! You can really differentiate the home made and product one.We feel really healthy eating it!

Home made one is thicker (width kind of similar to Japanese udon) and no regular shape. It is better to finish it before it cools down as the pasta may stick together and not so soft after all.

Papagayo creates this pasta together with fresh daily delivered razor clams, you can see it underneath the pasta, around 3 for each dish. This dish is simple but the classic basil sauce is heavenly delicious and not too full and creamy, fairly equivalent to the name 'Light'.
