Simple way to happiness: ice-cream! It's always sweet having it in summer, especially after a long day at work, you'd think you need to be treated better! Last Wednesday we were invited to an ice-cream tasting event held by Tryit and Glacio. Frankly, it was my first ice-cream tasting and I'm glad I was invited. We have tried six flavours at the ice-cream bar and they were all incredible!

In the same way, Glacio collects only the best ingredients from around the world, such as rBGH-free milk, premium fresh fruits and Goossens chocolate sauce as extra topping and use craftsmanship combined with long-standing tradition to create ice cream with a heart.

Glacio, found in 1972, is an ice-cream producer based in Belgium. They produce high quality of European style ice cream world widely and I've heard even Madonna has requested for flying over the ice-cream delicacies from Belgium to Moscow. Sounds crazy right?! I have never tried Glacio before but we'll soon figure out what makes Madonna so obsessed and how special is their ice cream. I hope you all enjoy!

Glacio founds its first shop in K11 Mall, Hong Kong in 2013. Last week they set up a pop up store at the same mall upstairs their main store.
Glacio在2013年在香港K11商場裡開了第一家店,到目前為止Glacio仍然只能在K11找到。上星期他們在同一商場裡設立了一個短期的攤檔。
I don't really like sitting there for an ice cream because a lot of people passing and the place is weirdly located right in front of the mall entrance.
老實說,我覺得在這個位置設檔空間有點狹窄,好多人在旁邊穿插,有點不自在的感覺。
Apart from gelato, Glacio also serves summer treats like frozen yogurt, smoothies and milkshake.
除了雪糕外,Glacio亦有售其他夏日甜點、特色雪糕、沙冰及奶昔。
I'm not a fan of vanilla but surprisingly this Vanilla Bourbon Premium makes me craving. As you can see, there are some tiny vanilla seeds in the ice cream, which makes it tastes really natural. I've tried so many vanilla ice cream before, I was quite disappointed some of them tasted artificial.
我不愛好雲呢嗱雪糕,但吃過了Glacio的特級波本雲呢嗱,卻有另一番感覺。雪糕裡的黑點是雲呢嗱籽,雖然雲呢嗱雪糕的顏色是米白色,其實雲呢嗱在加工前是一支像草一樣的植物,雲呢嗱籽混在雪糕裡後味道很濃郁。我嚐過很多不同的雲呢嗱雪糕,有些味道很容易就能嚐出是以人工香料製成,而特級波本雲呢嗱所用的材料都是天然,所以亦能嚐到雲呢嗱原始的味道。
Vanilla Bourbon Premium tastes so different among the vanillas with not too much sweet and perfect milky balance. Think it was the best vanilla I have tried so far.
雪糕的甜度和牛奶比例都調較得很適中,也許它是我嚐過最好吃的雲呢嗱雪糕。
I'm sure you'll fall in love with this if you are a Matcha lover! I'm seriously in love with green tea and I really like this. I'd prefer intense taste of green tea rather than too much cream. I'm glad this is served with rich herbal taste and dairy wasn't over. Glacio made it with the ingredients from Kyushu, Japan, so I'd say this is quite original.
如果你是抹茶愛好者的話,我相信你一定會喜歡這款抹茶雪糕!幾乎每一次到雪糕店我都一定會點抹茶,但是我會比較喜歡茶味濃郁,少奶味的雪糕。Glacio的抹茶雪糕正好符合我心意,其抹茶味非常濃厚,但是沒有綠茶的草腥味,茶奶比例調較得剛剛好。材料都是從日本鹿兒島入口,所以我覺得也是很地道的!
Pineapple is a rare flavour among the ice cream stores in Hong Kong but it can be found in Glacio. Double Pineapple was my favourite there and it is served with a combination of ice cream and yogurt.
在香港很少會有售賣菠蘿雪糕的店舖,目前我知道的就只有Glacio一家。菠蘿二重奏是我這次活動裡的最愛,它不只是雪糕而且還混合了乳酪。
I appreciate the ice cream is also served with pieces of pineapple. It tastes so fresh and tropical! Double Pineapple tastes a bit sour because of yogurt. I'd love to have it after dinner and it won't give you too much fullness.
當中夾雜了菠蘿的碎粒,令雪糕的質感進一步提升,不只是在口裡溶掉那麼簡單,還增添了咀嚼感。菠蘿二重奏味道清新,帶有微酸,在飯後吃不會感到過飽,非常適合作為飯後甜品。
I'm confused with this bloody Sorbet Strawberry because it's sort of like Chinese Hawthorn. Tastes sour but not too sweet. I love having sorbet because of its silky texture. This sorbet is smooth and tastes quite sour, even more than the Double Pineapple.
至於這個草莓雪葩我是有點分不出到底它是不是草莓還是其他莓類製成,味道比較像山渣,酸溜溜的,甜味不重。我喜歡雪葩細滑的口感,但是這個草莓我不是很喜歡,因為它比菠蘿二重奏更酸,而且味道不太像草莓。
Glacio is very proud of their Sorbet Coco because it's Madonna's favourite. Made with coconuts from Philippines, it reminds me of the previous trip to Cebu. This Sorbet Coco is creamy but not greasy. No wonder why Madonna loves it, tastes so refreshing and the scent of coconut stayed on my tongue longer than I expected.
Glacio最有名的莫過於是得到麥當娜青睞的椰子雪葩。以菲律賓椰子製成,勾起了我早前到宿霧遊玩的回憶。這個椰子雪葩很幼滑,沒正式放進口裡已經能嗅到它的香味,我知道椰子普遍都會讓人有很膩的感覺,但這個吃下後清新的味道絕對不會令人吃撑。
Last but not least, all time favourite - Chocolate! Unlike the typical chocolate ice cream, Belgian Chocolate was produced with high quality of chocolate from Belgium. Its semi-sweetness with rich flavour tasted really like a dark chocolate bar. I was impressed because its chocolate flavour is so strong. Since gelato has more milk than cream, this Belgian Chocolate didn't give me much fullness which is also good as a dessert after dinner.
相信巧克力應該是很多人的摯愛,來自比利時的Glacio以其發源地聞名的巧克力製成比利時朱古力雪糕,入口微甜,朱古力味非常濃郁,感覺好像在吃黑朱古力一樣。因為Gelato裡牛奶所佔的比例比忌廉重,所以不會令人感覺飽滯。
There are many gelato stores to try in the town, but most of them are pretty pricey. I'm amazed with the price at Glacio: for HKD 30 you can get one scoop, and HKD 45 for two. I think they sometimes give out coupon to customers because I have received a coupon of buy two get one free after the event which means I can get three scoops with HKD 45! Yipee!
香港有不少類似Glacio的雪糕店,但價錢都是比較貴,很出奇地發現Glacio雪糕不是特別貴:三十元一球,四十五元兩球。我想他們應該會周不時向顧客派發優惠券,我在活動之後也得到了一張買二送一的優惠券,即是說四十五元已經可以吃到三球雪糕!
I don't see any bad things to say about Glacio because their gelato and sorbet are delicious! I'd love to come back again for the ice cream combinations.
今次的活動非常開心可以吃到不同口味的雪糕,每一款都有其獨特之處,相信不久我會再次前來試試其他款式的甜品!
